Hemerocallis minor is native to East Asia, from Siberia to Korea. The Mongolian name is huwar, while in English it is called a small daylily. Modern ethnographers have noted the consumption of the tuberous part of this perennial geophyte. In Inner Mongolia, Sachula et al 2020 notes the consumption of the flower in soup, fried, boiled, or with cream.
