Valeriana alternifolia is a perennial rhizomatic herb belonging to the Valerianaceae family. The root and rhizome are used in treating fevers (particular persistent fevers), poisoning, and tumors. It is believed to have sedative, numbing and blood-pressure lowering effects. It is native to Siberia though China.
